Lt Col (USAF retired) William (Bill) F. Lohr, 80, of Whitehall, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023, in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. William and his wife, Janet (Dalla Piazza), celebrated 58 years of marriage. Born September 10, 1942, in Northampton, he was the son of the late William F., Sr. and Helen (Unger) Lohr. William was an avid baseball player and later attended St. Joseph's University before honorably serving our country in the U.S. Air Force sitting Cold War alert as a B-52 electronic warfare officer, flying more than twice the speed of sound in the B-58 Hustler, and serving as a strategic airlift pilot in the years during and just after Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, Bill and Janet settled in the Lake Wallenpaupack area. Bill enjoyed shoo fly pie, watching the Philadelphia Phillies, and traveling the country with Janet in an RV. He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church.
In addition to his wife, William is survived by daughter, Carolyn Delphais and husband, Robert; sons, Matthew and wife, Gina, and Colonel (USAF retired) Christopher and wife, Ellen; grandchildren, Madison, 1Lt (USAF) Brendan, Matthew, Alexander, and Ryan; sister, Priscilla D'Annibale; and nieces and nephews.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 17 th at 11:00 a.m. in the church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21 st St., Northampton. Interment with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to Fellowship Community Benevolent Care Fund care of Fellowship Community, 3000 Fellowship Drive, Whitehall PA 18052, in loving memory of William. Online condolences may be offered below.
