William A. Jost, 94, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully in Lehigh Valley Hospital on February 15, 2024. Born July 26, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Franz and Frances (Bruder) Jost. He was married to the late Marion (Mussler) Jost. William worked for Schaefer's Brewery in Brooklyn, NY until it closed, then he moved to Schaefer's Brewery in Fogelsville until retiring in 1994. He loved baseball and was a Mets fan. He coached little league baseball in Massapequa, NY; and enjoyed watching his two grandsons play baseball in the Lehigh Valley. William was a Charter member of local 12 IBT, where he was a trustee, shop steward and chairman of the local 12 Safety Committee. He was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church, where he was an usher and altar server. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his grandchildren, watching baseball, and going to the casino. William was predeceased by his parents, wife, and a son, Jeffrey Jost, two brothers, Fredrick and Frank.
Survivors: son, Michael Jost (Karen) and Douglas Jost; daughter-in-law, Janet Jost; grandchildren, Keith Jost (Stephanie), Lisa Brown (Jeremiah), Kristen Yuhas (Scott), and Christopher Jost; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Brown, Samantha Yuhas, Danielle Yuhas, and Alyssa Chomitzky.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Feb. 19th at 10:30 a.m. in Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church, 1861 Catasauqua Dr., Bethlehem. Family and friends may call Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton, and Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. in the church. Entombment will follow in Assumption BVM Cemetery, Northampton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church in William's memory. Online condolences may be submitted below.
