William J. Almond, 78, of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Sacred Heart Assisted Living, Northampton. He was the husband of the late Barbara H. (Eberhardt), who passed away in 2018. They celebrated 50 years of marriage together. Born August 3, 1945, in Northampton, he was a son of the late William P. and Rose H. (Knopf) Almond. William was a purchasing agent for various companies throughout his career including, the former Schulmerich Carillons, Inc., former Submicron Systems, Inc., and FL Smidth. After retiring, he worked in real estate at Prudential Patt, White Real Estate in Bethlehem. William honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed on the USS Norris (DD859). He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. William was also active with various social clubs especially, the Northampton VFW Post 4714 and the Coplay Saengerbund. He loved to travel.
Survivors: daughter, Annette Lerch and husband, William; son, William M. and wife, Catherine; grandchildren, April, Jacob and Chloe; brother, Michael and wife, Bonnie; sisters, Sylvia Genovese and Mary Rose Frantz and husband, Charles; and companion, Marie.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 2nd at 10:30 a.m. in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 South 5th St., Coplay. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Contributions: Memorials may be presented to the church in William's memory. Online condolences may be offered below.
