Obituary

Walter "Wladyslaw" Welykanicz, 74 of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025 in St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown, PA. Born on March 25, 1951 in Tabory, Poland, he was a son of the late Jan and Anna (Prystasz) Welykanycz. Walter and his wife, Jean (Drahuszczak) celebrated 41 years of marriage. He was employed on the production line for J. Sussman, Inc. and later as a mechanic for LANTA. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Northampton. He enjoyed gardening, swimming, snorkeling, and trips to the Caribbean.

Survivors: In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by brothers, Jaroslaw, Bogdan, Andrzej, and several nieces, nephews and sister-in-laws.

Services: Family and friends may call on Monday evening, September 8th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Parastas at 7:00 p.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Divine Liturgy will be held on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the church, 1343 Newport Ave., Northampton. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be offered below.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church in loving memory of Walter.
