Theodore Charles Bodnar, 86, of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Theodore and his loving wife, Janette M. (Shinsky), celebrated 62 years of marriage on May 19th. Born August 12, 1936, in Allentown, he was a son of the late Charles, Sr. and Nesttie (Kyra) Bodnar. Theodore honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He worked on diesel engines at the former Chemical Leaman Tank Lines, Inc. and the former Matlack Trucking, Inc. He then worked at the U.S. Postal Service in the delivery and maintenance departments. Theodore was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. He enjoyed volunteering at the church, assisting in making pierogis and even helped paint the gymnasium in 1975. He was a lifetime member of Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club; it was one of his top priorities, since he helped establish it with his brothers. Theodore loved the outdoors and always made time for hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the Northampton American Legion.
In addition to his wife, Theodore is survived by his daughters, Donna M. Solomon and husband, John, and Denise A. Iannotta and husband, James; grandsons, Johnny, Brandon, Matthew, and Nicholas; great-grandson, John Theodore II; brother, James Bodnar and wife, Mary Ann; sister, Veronica Kurtz; and several nieces and nephews. Theodore was predeceased by his brothers, Roger and Charles, Jr.
Services: A Divine Liturgy will be held on Thursday, August 17th at 10:30 a.m. in the church, 1343 Newport Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may gather Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in the church. Interment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Northampton, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in loving memory of Theodore. Online condolences may be offered below.
