Obituary

Stanley E. Zavilla Jr.

February 10, 1949 – June 26, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life lived that we announce the passing of Stanley E. Zavilla Jr., who passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his children.

Born on February 10, 1949, in Coplay, Pennsylvania, Stan lived a life defined by hard-work, fun, and a love for his family. A proud graduate of Moravian University, Stan distinguished himself as a captain of the Historic 1970's Greyhounds football team that captured the first-ever championship team in Moravian's history. While his athletic accomplishments were remarkable, those who knew him best understood that his greatest victories were found far from the football field.

Stan was a devoted father and an extraordinary grandfather. He found his greatest joy in his family and treasured every moment spent with them. His eight grandchildren eagerly anticipated his surprise early-morning visits, often arriving with a box of donuts and a smile, simply hoping to brighten their day. He rarely missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, no matter how big or small, and was quick to share an "I love you," right until the end.

His children were the pride of his life. One of Stan's favorite sayings was, "When I come back, I want to come back as you," a reflection of the immense admiration and love he held for them. Those words will forever remind his family of the depth of his heart and the pride he felt in the people they had become.

Stan is survived by his beloved son, Jared Zavilla and his wife, Whitney; his beloved daughter, Kallyn Smith and her husband, Jeff; and his cherished grandchildren, Evelyn, Blake, Jaelynn, Brookelynn, Felicity, Zayne, Scarlett, and Lincoln, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life. In addition, he is survived by his brother, David Zavilla and his wife, Mary; and his two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley E. Zavilla Sr. and Pauline (Erkinger) Zavilla.

Although his family mourns the loss of a loving father, grandfather, and friend, they find comfort in knowing his legacy lives on through the values he instilled, the love he shared, and the skills and wisdom he passed on to build almost anything.

His greatest title was never a champion or an athlete; it was Dad and Grandpop. His love, sense of humor, brute strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and compassion during this difficult time. In honoring Stan's memory, may we all strive to love a little more openly, celebrate one another's accomplishments, surprise someone with donuts, and never leave the people we love without saying, "I love you."
