Sheila R. Henits, 65, of Bowmanstown, passed away into Heaven, the result of a massive stroke, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Born on June 16, 1956, she grew up in Coplay and was the daughter of the late John "Billy" and Evelyn (Goller) Henits. She graduated from Whitehall High School in 1974. A diligent and committed worker, Sheila was employed for many years at the Bethlehem Steel until her shop closed. She then worked for many years at Kraft Foods, as well as, a few years at Ponderosa Fiber. Sheila had an independent spirit and was a loyal friend. She was fearless, courageous, and spiritual; embracing and excelling at everything she tried. Her ability as a hunter is legendary. She took an avid interest in the history and culture of Native Americans, immersing herself in research and studying. Sheila had hundreds of books on the subject and fashioned native garments from deer hide.

Survivors: her brother, William (Billy) Henits; her long-time devoted partner, Michael Kraynick; aunts, uncles, many cousins, and so very many friends. She will be especially missed by her beloved dog, Rutger. Sheila is predeceased by her parents, grandparents and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services: A prayer service will be held on Monday, July 19 ^th at 11:00 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21 ^st St., Northampton. Family and friends may call Monday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Online condolences may be offered below.
