S. David Irons, 81, of Kreidersville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born on June 30, 1940, in Hanover, PA, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Diffinderfer) Irons. Dave and his wife, Suzanne (Bittinger), celebrated 60 years of marriage together. He was a graduate of Penn State University and earned his master's degree in mineral sciences. He was employed as a research engineer for Bethlehem Steel, where he developed three patents used in steel manufacturing process. Dave was an avid and successful antique dealer for over 50 years, whose specialty in collecting pressing irons led him to be a guest on the Martha Stewart Show. His antique iron collection is one of the largest collections in the world. In addition, he was an author of three books on antique pressing irons. Dave loved going to antique shows, flea markets, auctions, buying and selling antiques and in constant pursuit of finding great buys on antiques and antique irons. He was a member of Zion Stone Church, Kreidersville and the Kreidersville Covered Bridge Association. He also served as the chairman of the Allen Township Planning Commission for many years.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, Dave is survived by sons, Marty Irons of Wallingford, PA, Mike Irons of Queenstown, MD; daughter, Abby Spencer of Bath, PA; and 9 grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his brother, Steele Irons, of Marblehead, MA.
Services: Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the Reichel Funeral Home, Northampton. Online condolences may be offered below.
