Ruth I. Bennett died on November 29, 2025. She was 95 years old and was a resident at Heather Glen Senior Living, Allentown, PA. She was born in Northampton, PA, and was the daughter of William F. Bennett and Florence I. (Frederick) Bennett. She was the fifth of sixth children which included Byron, Kathleen, Evelyn, Leonore, herself and John. She graduated from Northampton High School in 1947, Harrisburg Community College in 1968 and Penn State University in 1970. Ruth was employed at several firms, most often serving as secretary. The position she was most proud of was being Founder and Director of the Singles Social Club of Harrisburg from 1973 until 2020. She lived much of her life in Camp Hill, PA, where she assisted her former husband in his dental practice. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, where she enjoyed being a member of her Bible study group and attending worship. She was a 60-year member of the Old Bellaire Chapter of the Eastern Star in Carlisle, PA. Over the years, Ruth wrote poetry and authored the book, The Bubbles Burst. She was a talented artist and did many beautiful paintings of landscapes. She enjoyed dancing with her friends at dances she arranged for the Singles Social Club. She was interested in travel and led trips for members of the Singles Social Club and AARP.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, siblings, a nephew and three of her nieces. She is survived by five nieces, six nephews and several cousins.
Services will be held on Friday, Dec. 5th at 12:00 p.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Family and friends may gather on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Allen Union Cemetery, Northampton. Online condolences may be submitted below.
Contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital of Philadelphia, or to the American Cancer Society c/o the funeral home.
