Richard F. Niedermeyer, 85, of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg surrounded by his loving family. Richard and his wife, Helen (Konye), celebrated 62 years of marriage. Born February 24, 1935 in Allentown, he was a son of the late Walter and Myra (Smith) Niedermeyer. Following his retirement from Eaton Corporation in 1996, he worked for Willowbrook Golf Course for 22 years until 2018. He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church. Richard was an avid golfer and loved all sports. He would frequently attend Northampton, Catasauqua, and Whitehall sporting events. Richard coached little league for the NAA and basketball for the Catholic Youth Organization.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his children, Colleen Geiger and her husband, Daniel, and Christopher Niedermeyer; grandchildren, Meghan Milkovits and her husband, Matthew, Zachary Niedermeyer, and Jacob Niedermeyer; sister, Helen Yeager; brother, Walter Niedermeyer and his wife, MaryAnn; and several nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his brother, Jack, and sister, Victoria.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 13 th at 10:00 a.m. in Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. Those in attendance will kindly be requested to practice social distancing and wear a face cover. The Mass will also be available to livestream on the church's YouTube channel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be presented to the church in loving memory of Richard. Online condolences may be offered above.
