Michelle Eve "Shelly" Hillpot, 65, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at her parents' home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Michael J. Hillpot, who preceded her in death in December 2004. Born November 25, 1959, in Allentown, she was a daughter of John J. and Rose C. (Szoke) Marhefka of N. Catasauqua. Michelle was a 1977 graduate of Catasauqua High School. Throughout her career, she held positions with several employers, including Raub Supply, Creative Graphics, Gockley Elementary School, and Dorney Park. She eventually retired as the office manager for the food and beverage department at the PPL Center. She was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Northampton. Michelle dedicated her time volunteering at St. John Fisher Church, N. Catasauqua. She loved the beach, enjoyed traveling, and had a special fondness for the character Snoopy. She was also a devoted fan of Eagles and Penn State football. Michelle adored her grandson, Andrew, and took great joy in supporting him in all his activities—he was truly one of the brightest highlights of her life.
In addition to her parents, Michelle is survived by her daughter, Denise Dengler and significant other, Eric Gunsser; son, Dennis; grandson, Andrew Dengler; sister, Annette Englert and husband, Jim; brothers-in-law, Bill Nothstein; Robert Hillpot and wife, Tracy; Scott Hillpot and wife, Janice. She was predeceased by her sister, Deborah Nothstein. She also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew, dear friends, and her beloved cat, Mocci.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 1st at 10:00 a.m. in Assumption BVM Church, 22nd St. & Washington Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may gather from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. in the church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be offered below.
In lieu of flowers, Michelle requested memorial contributions to support her grandson's educational fund, care of the funeral home.
