Mary Ann
Yanders
May 5, 1935 — Jun 16, 2023
Heaven welcomed a beautiful soul with the passing of Mary Ann (Stubits) Yanders, 88, on June 16 at Sacred Heart Assisted Living in Northampton, surrounded by her family. Her beloved spouse of 66 years was the late John Yanders, who deceased in 2020. Her parents were the late Joseph and Mary (Unger) Stubits of Northampton.
A pious Catholic, she was a member of Queenship of Mary Church in Northampton and a dedicated pierogi maker at the former St. Michael's Church. Her fervent patronage to St. Anthony was part of her intense faith.
Mary Ann was a talented piano player in her youth and loved polka dancing with her husband and playing the accordion. She worked part-time in the garment industry until retiring in the early 90s.
Her greatest passion was nurturing her family and caring for their special-needs child into their late 70s. She was a selfless, loving woman with a delightful spirit and beautiful smile.
She will be dearly missed by son Robert and wife Lynne of Harpswell, ME, daughter Janet Heminitz and husband John of Walnutport, sister Pauline Meltsch of Northampton, and sister-in-law Dolores, wife of Paul Horvath of Whitehall. Predeceased by her husband, son Tommy, and brother Joseph Stubits, she was a proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren, Heather, Janelle, Brad, Jocelyn, Ezra and Matthew, 4 great grandsons and an expected birth in October.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, June 23, at 8:30-9:45 a.m. at Reichel Funeral Home in Northampton, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at Queenship of Mary Church.
