Mary Ann Geosits of Whitehall, PA passed away on September 4, 2026 at the age of 88. Mary Ann was born in New York City to the late Rose (Zimits) & Frank Geosits on July 31, 1938. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Brooklyn, New York and welcomed their second child, Dorothy, the following July. Mary Ann attended St. Francis of Assisi School and Bishop McDonald Memorial High School. Upon graduation, she attended business school and found employment as the secretary to the Director of The NYSA (New York Shipping Association, Inc.). When NYS merged with the ILA (International Longshoremen's Association) to form the NYSA-ILA Contract Board, Mary Ann was promoted to Executive Secretary. Mary Ann had what she thought was the most wonderful job in the world...it allowed her extensive traveling throughout the United States and abroad. She remained with the company until her retirement. Her office was located at 2 World Trade Center. She was at work in February 1993 when the World Trade Center was first bombed. In September of 2001 she was semi-retired and chose the days she went into the office. She chose to go in Thursday and Friday (September 6-7) rather than Monday and Tuesday (September 10-11). She thanked God every night for making that choice.

Mary Ann was pre-deceased by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law Dorothy & Donald Turocy, her aunt and uncle Theresa (Zimits) & Joseph Teklits, her aunt and uncle John & Hilda (Stangl) Zimits, her aunt Ella (Geosits) Magnits and other family members residing in Szentpeterfa, Hungary. She is survived by her nephews Steven and his wife Ronica Turocy, David Turocy and his wife Deborah Turocy, her great nieces Christina and Gabrielle Turocy, her great-great nephew, the love of her life, Steven Bernhard Jr. (Christina's son) and great-great niece Michaela Kortekass (Christina’s daughter). She is also survived by cousins Imre and John Jany, Rosalind (Teklits) & husband Joseph Fruhman.

Ten years ago Mary Ann was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and subsequently contracted head and neck cancer, bladder cancer, lung cancer and breast cancer. Throughout her illness Maryann remained strong and calm and never became depressed or anxious. She always said that she had the best parents in the world, the best family and the best job. She was a person of strong faith and would tell herself every day that life was hard but it was good to her.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 10, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. and Friday, September 11, from 9:15–10:15 a.m. at Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, 1324 Newport Ave., celebrated by Father Patrick Lamb. Burial will be at Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton.
