In loving memory of Mary Kathryn (Fetchko) Demjan, 79 of Cementon, PA Whitehall Township, passed from this world to the next on Monday evening, October 5, 2026. She was the wife of Eugene Raymond Demjan Sr, who predeceased her in 2020, and were bonded in the vows of Holy Matrimony in Northampton, PA at Saint Michaels Parish 55 years ago, May 22, 1971. Born in Allentown PA, Mary grew up in a large household on her “Jada’s” farm in Cementon. She was the oldest of three children born to Marie G. (Siska) Fetchko and Michael J. Fetchko, and she was the sister to Margaret (Fetchko) Purcell of Bethlehem, Pa and to Michael J. Fetchko Sr, husband of Janice (Nero) Fetchko of Cementon.
Mary’s early school days were at the Cementon Grade School off of Hillside Avenue. Mary attended Whitehall High School and graduated in 1965. After graduation, Mary worked in Allentown as a key punch operator. Mary and her bridegroom started a family on Bethlehem’s southside where he was from. Eventually, she would return to the land of her childhood and in September of 1983, Mary and her family moved into a new home that her husband and her planned and built, alongside the help of family and friends.
Mary had 4 children and 4 grandchildren: Nicholas Joseph Demjan, his children Nicholas Jr. and Ava Nicole, their mother Kristi Liberto Demjan; Eugene Raymond Demjan Jr. and his partner Christine Hawk; Nicole Marie Demjan; Christopher Andrew Demjan, his wife Rebecca Behr Demjan and their children Penelope and Harrison.
Mary’s children were her life and she was involved in their activities. She also worked as an elector for 23 years, a title and a job that she looked forward to by serving her community of Cementon. Mary was a nurse’s aide and worked at a few facilities throughout the area. She also worked in retail over the years. As the years passed, Mary and her mother-in-law were inseparable and she would eventually become her full-time Caretaker until she was reunited with the Lord. In the spring of 2023 Mary’s health took a sudden and drastic turn; she was hospitalized after a fall, and she learned that she had Interstitial Lung Disease. Mary braved this battle for over three years, sadly losing to it on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Mary Kathryn Demjan, had a life full of many titles that fit her well but none could compare to the most cherished and fitting title of them all—“Baba”. Mother you have showed us all what unconditional love truly is. Your selfless acts of kindness will live on in us for the rest of our days. We love you always, today, tomorrow and forever!!! “Dobru noc Baba”❤️
