Louis F. (Loitch) Jany, 90, of Northampton passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was the loving husband of Rose (Deibert) Jany and they celebrated 67 years of marriage on May 14th. Born November 1, 1926 in Northampton, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Yelensits) Janny.
Louis worked for Universal Atlas Cement Company for many years and retired from Lehigh Cement Company. He was a member of Queenship of Mary Church and the Holy Name Society. Louis also served as an usher. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was awarded the Victory Medal. Louis was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Post 454, Northampton Liederkranz, and St. Peter and Paul Hungarian Society.
Survivors: wife, Rose; sons, Louis A. Jany and wife Donna of Whitehall and Ronald A. Jany and wife Kim of Coplay; daughter, Donna, wife of Daniel Schmalzer of Bath; 7 grandchildren, Jason, Melanie, Brandon, Laura, Lisa, Joshua and Derek; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Stephen Janny of Northampton. Louis was predeceased by eight siblings.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, December 9th at 10:30 a.m. in Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may call Friday 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Burial with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton.
