Kenneth J. Hummel, 69, of Palmerton, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. Kenneth and his wife, Linda (Silfies), celebrated 46 years of marriage on Oct. 5 th . Born January 23, 1951 in Allentown, he was a son of Margaret E. (Kirchner) and the late Kenneth P. Hummel. He was a graduate of Northampton High School in 1968. Kenneth worked as a truck driver at Kraft Foods in Fogelsville for 27 years and retired in December 2008. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Kenneth was a member of Zion's Stone United Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Masonic Manoquesy Lodge 413, Bath. Kenneth was very active with the Rajah Shrine Forks of the Delaware Tin Lizzies and the Anglers. He had a great passion for woodworking, laughter and storytelling.
In addition to his wife and mother, Kenneth is survived by son, Shane and his wife, Heather; daughter, Laura Gardner and her husband, Brad; grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Carson, and Carter; sister, Kathleen Bammer; brothers, Ronald E. and his wife, Sharon, and Dennis J. and his wife, Barbara; father-in-law, Willard R. Silfies; brother-in-law, Glenn Silfies; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19 th at 1:30 p.m. in Blue Mountain Community Church, 25 Oak St., Palmerton. Public viewing will be Saturday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the church. Those in attendance will kindly be requested to practice social distancing and wear a face cover.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be presented to Masonic Manoquesy Lodge 413, 221 Penn St., Bath, PA 18014 in loving memory of Kenneth. Online condolences may be offered above.
