John P. Rowland, 85, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. His heart's desire was to be at home with the Lord. Born March 18, 1939 in Allentown, he was a son of the late John D. and Wanda A. (Nachisty) Rowland. John was a 1957 graduate of Whitehall High School. He honorably served in the 24th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. John spent his career in the logistics industry, retiring from Cotter & Co. in 2007. Maintaining his property and gardens brought him great satisfaction. Passionate about animals, collegiate sports, and auto racing, he shared those interests with his family.  Also interested in railroads, he was active with the Lehigh Valley Chapter, NRHS with his son.  John and his wife, Kathleen E. (Millen), celebrated 51 years of marriage on October 20th.  He was a loving, supportive husband, father and grandfather, who made it a priority to attend his childrens' events. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, James and his wife, Jennifer, and Bethany Walker and her husband, William; grandchildren, Julia, John and Elijah; sister, Dolores Billera and her husband, Joseph; and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his brother, Douglas H. Rowland. John was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua.

Services: Viewing for family and friends Wednesday, Dec. 4th from 6 - 8 PM and Thursday, Dec. 5th from 9 – 10 AM, a prayer service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Interment will follow with military honors in Egypt Cemetery, Whitehall.
