Obituary

John (Jack) Michael O'Boyle, Jr. 83, of East Allen Township, passed away on Thursday, June 1st, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family. Born on June 8th, 1939, in Scranton, PA. He was a Son of the late Dr. John Michael and Mildred (Ford) O'Boyle. He was a 1957 graduate of Central High School, Scranton and a 1959 Graduate of Johnson College, Scranton. He was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church. He worked for Western Electric (Bell Labs)/Lucent/Agere for over 40 years as a tool and die maker. Jack was married to the late Dorothy T. O'Boyle (Tallarico) for over 60 Years. Jack was a U.S. Navy veteran serving 5 years in the Naval Reserves at Willow Grove Naval Air Station and 2 years of active duty with VP-23 located at the Brunswick (Maine) Naval Air Station where he served on aircrews as an airman rated as an anti-submarine warfare operator/technician. Jack was involved in numerous businesses with his wife including proprietorship of Omega Fashions, in Bethlehem and Quakertown, PA. Jack was an avid bowler in his youth and was a ranked amateur in the early 1960's. Also in his youth, Jack and his friends loved working on cars and supported friends who raced them. In later life, Jack took his knowledge of mechanics and electronics and became an avid proponent of solar electricity, installing over 40 solar panels on his property and being proud to say that the electric company pays him. Jack and his wife spent their retirement years cruising around the world and traveling the country. He would have told you that the thing he did the best and enjoyed the most was being a father to his children and grandfather to his grandchildren.

Survivors: Jack is survived by his sons, John and wife, Sharon, Timothy and wife, Linda; daughters, Elizabeth Cissel and husband, John, Rebecca O'Boyle; grandchildren, Brenna O'Boyle, Courtney Cissel, and Mary Elizabeth Cissel. A sister, Mary Ellen Gardner (O'Boyle) and an infant brother preceded Jack in death.

Services: Memorial Service will be on Saturday, July 29 at 11:00 am in Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
