Obituary

John P. Hertzog, 95, of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 4, 2024, in the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, surrounded by his loving family. John was the husband of the late Rose (Kochenash), who passed away in 1992. Born January 7, 1929, in Northampton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Joon) Hertzog. John worked for the former Coplay Cement Co. for many years. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. John was a member of Queenship of Mary Church, Northampton. John was an avid Phillies fan. He enjoyed attending races at Mahoning Valley Speedway. John was an avid hunter and loved spending time at his cabin.

Survivors: daughters, Bonnie Breslin and Barbara Weigard and husband, Gregory; son, Thomas and wife, Susan; grandchildren, Aaron and Jenna; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.

Services: A prayer service will be held on Friday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Family and friends may gather on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with military honors will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to Lehigh Valley Hospice or the Wounded Warrior Project in John's memory. Online condolences may be offered below.
