John J. Herman, 88, of Nazareth, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday morning, April 20, 2025, at Gracedale Nursing Home, Nazareth. John was born on December 9, 1936, in Northampton, and is the first son of the late John Herman and Rose (Sysko) Herman. He graduated from Northampton Area High School in 1954. John served in the US Army in Fort Dix, NJ from 1960-62, where he was the Assistant to the Chaplain. He belonged to the American Club of Coplay and worked many years in the banking industry until his retirement. He was a resident of Gracedale Nursing Home for the last seven years.

He is survived by his youngest brother, Roger Herman Sr. of Nazareth; nephews, Roger Herman Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Bath and Thomas Herman Jr. and wife, Lori, of Rochester, NY; nieces, Donna Sisson and husband, Steve, of Pen Yan, NY and Monica Pokrivsak and husband, James, of Nazareth; nine great-nieces and nephews and five great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Thomas, of Endicott, NY and sister, Dorothy, and sister-in-law, Nancy Herman, of Nazareth.

John's graveside service will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery in Northampton.
