Known by many as, "The Candy Man," he loved to hand out candy to everyone, especially at his grandson, Charlie's, games. Charlie was the light of his life and his favorite, "Buddy." He cherished his role as PopPop.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter, Lori Strzelecki and husband, Mark; grandson, Charlie; sisters, Patricia Bodnar and Linda Pizzo; brother, Frank "Smokey" Solderits and wife, Karen; nieces and nephews.
