Obituary

James John Rubasky, age 89 passed away peacefully at his home in Westland, MI under hospice care on June 28, 2026. He is survived by his loyal and loving daughter JoAnne Elizabeth (Joshua L.) Kaiman and his beloved cat, Samatha; sisters in law Sylvia Kokolus, Rosemarie (Earl) MacCartney and Janice Koklus. Also leaves six nephews, two nieces, five great nephews, one great niece, three great-great nephews, one great-great niece, many cousins and extended family members. 

James was the son of the late John J. Rubasky Sr. and the late Mary E. (Kimock) Rubasky.

He is preceded in death by his spouse Judith (Kokolus) Rubasky, his daughter Jacquline Rubasky and his only brother John J. Rubasky Jr.

James was of Slovak descent, born in Coplay, PA and raised in the Catholic faith. He believed that his life was in God’s hands. May he now rest in peace and be with his departed family and friends. He was a great lover of wildlife and his cat Samatha. We will miss him dearly.

Visitation on Tuesday, July 14th 1-8 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 980 N. Newburgh Road (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill) Westland, Michigan.

Visitation on Friday, July 17th 11:15 AM until 12:15 PM at Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st Street, Northampton. Family and friends will process to St. Peter Catholic Church, 4 South 5th Street in Coplay for a 1 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment following the Mass at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Whitehall.
