Obituary

On November 26, 2025, James Adrian Murphy got on his favorite Indian motorcycle and rode to heaven. Growing up on a farm, Jim learned mechanical skills early on from his father and grandfather. Jim used this skill set to take over his father's part-time business as the owner and principal mechanic of Murphy's Garage and Auto Sales in Whitehall Township. He ran his business full-time from 1962 to 2006. He sold Benelli and Indian motorcycles from 1969 to 1981. He loved antique Indian motorcycles and owned several in his younger years. Jim was a life member of Zinc City Motorcycle Club. He operated the Spring Mill Motorcycle Scramble Racetrack from 1972 to 1976. His hobbies were watching auto racing and building model train layouts.

He was predeceased by wife, Louise, his parents, Marvin and Helen, and his sister, Winifred. Surviving him are his children, Marvin (Karen) and Denise (Curtis), his grandchildren, Megan, Melanie, and Brett, his sister, Doreen, and nieces and nephews.

Services: A visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service for Jim at 2:00 p.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. The cremated remains of Jim and Louise will be interred together at Neffs Union Cemetery with a private ceremony.
