James R.
Miller
Jul 9, 1958 — Nov 22, 2024
James R. Miller, 66, of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. Born on July 9, 1958, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Walter and Emma (Kreider) Miller.
James' warm smile and uplifting personality left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a knack for connecting with people, whether chatting with strangers at the grocery store or fostering friendships at work. During his 30+ years in the IT department at Lehigh Valley Hospital and beyond, staff and former colleagues frequently spoke of how much they enjoyed his presence—kind till the very end.
Outside of work, James found joy in life's everyday moments, sharing his passions generously with family and friends. Sundays were for cooking, and James filled the kitchen with homemade meals prepared for the days ahead. He was an avid fan of board games and dice games, especially Scrabble and Risk, where he took great joy in playing (and winning) against his loved ones.
He was a lifelong fan of classic rock — bands like The Who, The Rolling Stones, and the Foo Fighters. He attended countless concerts and proudly encouraged his son, Egan, to pursue his own path in music, where Egan excelled.
James' enthusiasm for sports ran deep. A loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, he cheered for his team through every season, win or lose, and he never missed the Olympics. He also enjoyed catching up with old friends at the No. 1 in Emmaus, where he played darts and pool. A dart league regular, James even had a dedicated dart room in his home.
And, of course, James had a legendary sweet tooth. Aunt Kathy's chocolate cake was a favorite, and he always kept candy around the house.
James is survived by his daughters, Jenna DePari and Karlin Miller; son, Egan Miller; grandsons, Zander Miller and Levi DePari; and brothers, Randy, Robert, and Jack Miller. He is preceded in death by his sister, Rose.
