Helen Sweryda, 89, formerly of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at The Summit at Blue Mountain Nursing and Rehab Center in Lehighton. Born October 3, 1933, in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Petro and Ksenia (Kolody) Krywczuk. She was married to the late Nikolai Sweryda. She was a loving wife, mother and devoted grandmother who loved spending time with the grandchildren she cherished so dearly. Helen enjoyed frequent trips to the casino, loved the beach and had a passion for making pierogies, countless dozens of which she happily gave away to family, friends and neighbors. Although she encountered some difficult challenges along the way, her spirit and her faith remained strong, and Helen would always greet you with a big smile and a kind word. She will always be remembered for her deep and enduring faith, her devotion to the Blessed Mother, her compassion and caring for others, and her generous spirit. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
