"There are souls that fall from Heaven like flowers" - Jean Paul Richter
Garrett Conrad Nicholas passed away on April 12, 2026, at just 21 years old, following an untimely accident near West Chester University in West Chester, PA. While his time here was far too short, Garrett lived a life full of joy, connection, and meaning, leaving an impact that will be felt by everyone who knew and loved him.
Garrett was born on May 19, 2004, at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown, PA. From the very beginning, he was the happiest, giggliest baby, always smiling, always bringing light into every room. That spirit stayed with him throughout his life and became the foundation of who he was.
Garrett attended Schnecksville Elementary School, Orefield Middle School, and Parkland High School in Allentown, PA, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the character that defined him. He went on to become a junior at West Chester University, where he was studying business and supply chain management. He loved his school deeply and found a true home within his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha. It was there, and everywhere he went, that Garrett's energy, love of life, and unmistakable presence stood out. His smile was constant, his laughter contagious, and his presence impossible to ignore. Among his fraternity brothers, he was known as "Gurt," a nickname that reflected the deep bonds he formed and the brotherhood he cherished. Garrett prioritized people over a GPA, yet he was poised for a promising future.
Garrett knew what truly mattered. He brought kindness and compassion everywhere he went. He was always the center of attention, not because he sought it, but because people were drawn to him. He made others feel seen, valued, and supported, often without even trying.
Garrett lived for both the big, bold moments in life as well as the simple and intimate ones: his mom's dippy eggs, his dad's filet mignon, singing in the car, lifting weights, and the excitement of March Madness. He was a passionate sports fan, growing up a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan under his dad's influence. As he embraced life in the Philadelphia area, his allegiance shifted to the Philadelphia Eagles, drawn not just to the team but to the experience of bonding with his friends and fraternity brothers. He was also a huge University of North Carolina basketball fan - "GO HEELS." One of the greatest thrills of his life was attending a UNC basketball game with his mom when Michael Jordan made a surprise appearance. Garrett described that moment as "SWEET," a word he often used when something made him happy.
Other highlights of his life include winning the Turkey Trot in 4th grade and the day he got his first car. Poignantly, on April 11th, Garrett spent the day at a family event at his fraternity, surrounded by people he loved. Just hours before he passed, he told his friends it was one of the best days of his life.
Garrett never held back gratitude. He wore his heart on his sleeve. If he felt the urge to dance, he danced. And after every conversation with someone he loved, he ended it with "I love you."
Even in his passing, Garrett continues to be an example of selfless and enduring grace. As an organ donor, he has already saved three lives, an extraordinary reflection of the generosity and compassion that define him.
Garrett is survived by his devoted mother, Traci Conrad Hafner, and his stepfather, Travis Hafner; his loving father, Gary Nicholas, and stepmother, Daisy Donis; his stepsisters, Courtney Herman, Macy Hafner, Bella Hafner, Kecialona Roman, and Erica Jones; and his stepbrother, Steven Ramos. He is also survived by his adored nieces and nephews, Annaliese Herman, Rhyker Herman, Carter Herman, Maven Jones, Emani Roman, and Emaya Roman.
Garrett is further survived by his grandparents, Gary and Linda Conrad, Walt and Bonnie Hafner, and Carlos Donis, and was preceded in passing by his grandparents, William and Ruby Nicholas, and Hilda Donis.
He also leaves behind his aunts and uncles, Joni Landry, Trevor Hafner, and Mark and Ghada Nicholas; his cousins, Jude Landry, Caden Hafner, Chloe Hafner, Cael Hafner, and Tyler Nicholas; along with countless friends, his Pi Kappa Alpha brothers, and a community who loved him deeply.
The family will share details of a celebration of life in the near future.
In honor of Garrett, the family asks that you carry forward the way he lived: Lead with love. Choose gratitude. Make every day count.
Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a GoFundMe . Proceeds will help cover the unexpected costs of Garrett's untimely and heartbreaking passing and support the creation of a foundation in his honor, ensuring his spirit of compassion and generosity continues to make a lasting impact.
In addition, the family emphatically asks that you honor Garrett's legacy by becoming both an organ donor and an ambassador for organ donation: register, have the conversation with your loved ones, and help give others the gift of life.
Garrett's life reminds us of what truly matters. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the lives he saved, and the joy and love he gave so freely.
