Francine P.
Micek
Apr 1, 1932 — Dec 2, 2020
Francine P. Micek (April 1, 1932 - Dec 2. 2020) was born and raised in Coplay, PA. She was the daughter of the late Valentine and Apolonia Novak and was predeceased by her sisters Helen and Stefany, and brothers Stanley, Ted, Eddie, Walter, and Frank.
Francine - affectionately known as 'Honey' - and her beloved husband Frank would have celebrated their 69th anniversary this month. They met while teenagers at Central Catholic High school; Frank frequently reminisces how he was struck by her beauty and long red wavy hair. They married soon after high school, lived in Allentown, and raised a large family of one son, Michael Micek (Michele), and seven daughters: Frances Gilbert (Paul), Constance Medve (Pete), Marie Micek, Lisa Micek, Judith Voytell (Kenneth), Catherine Parks (Steven), and Geraldine Halper (John). Together Francine and Frank have 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Francine was thoroughly devoted to her Catholic faith. She and Frank attended Mass every week at Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Northampton and said the rosary daily. She demonstrated putting God first in everything, especially in her unwavering care for her daughter, Marie, who has special needs.
Francine enjoyed working in various jobs over the years, including as a typesetter at the Morning Call newspaper, as a secretary at Mack Trucks, and in the cafeteria at Dieruff High School, from where she retired. She most loved keeping her full house of children and many family pets happy, smiling, and well fed -- creating her famously delicious Polish baked goods and meals, especially halupkies and pierogies. She taught her children to cook traditional Polish dishes, to respect nature and God's creatures, to celebrate holidays to the fullest (blessing baskets of food and wine at Easter), and to be loyal Phillies and Eagles fans. She lived her life being a kind, honest, sweet person. Francine's fun-loving nature, her sense of humor, her generous heart, her cooking, and her passion for her family will be missed and forever cherished. She will be remembered for her love, her energy, her goodness, and her striking beauty inside and out.
Francine's immediate family will hold a private ceremony to celebrate her life. Arrangements are under the direction of the Reichel Funeral Home, Northampton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Francine's memory may be made to The Arc of Lehigh and Northampton Counties, 2289 Avenue A, Bethlehem, PA 18017. Francine would have also requested an added appreciation of those who serve The Arc, and more kindness and inclusion of those with disabilities.
