Obituary

Emma M. Szivos, 93, formerly of Coplay, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Sacred Heart Senior Living, Northampton. Born October 27, 1930, in Coplay, she was the daughter of Frank and Theresa (Marton) Szivos. Emma was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1948. She went on to pursue a degree in nursing from Sacred Heart Nursing School. Emma worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, where she gave compassionate care to all her patients for over 35 years. She excelled at the career she chose. Emma was an avid reader all her life, enjoyed conversations about politics, and loved reminiscing about the "good old days." She was a lifelong member of Queenship of Mary Church.

Survivors: nephews, Frank Szivos and wife, Kim, Thomas Szivos and wife, Joan, Richard Farkas and wife, Debra, and Ronald Farkas and wife, Peg; nieces, Mary Ann Hammer and husband, Lee, and Margaret Kish and husband, Joseph; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and her loyal childhood friend, Sarah Fox. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Frank and his wife, Valeria, and sister, Mary Farkas and her husband, John.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 24th at 10:30 a.m. in Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may on Tuesday morning from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. in the church. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the church in Emma's memory. Online condolences may be offered below.
