Obituary

Edward R. Kornfeind, 91, of Northampton, died April 17th, 2026. He was the husband of Genevieve J. (Bobinis) Kornfeind, with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage on September 1st. Born in Northampton on January 2, 1935, Ed was the youngest son of the late Louis and Mary (Walter) Kornfeind. He became a butcher at an early age, working at the family store, Kornfeind's Market, in Northampton. After the store closed, he worked as a butcher at Central Market in Alpha, NJ, charming customers for years until his retirement. Ed was a simple man with a generous heart, easy demeanor and a quick smile, and could outwork anyone, even in his later years. Ed enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles, trips to the casino, and loved a good dessert.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Edward (Stephanie) of Mechanicsburg, Paul (Chanin) of Allentown, and Roger; eight grandchildren, Hunter, Jensen, Eislinn, Scott, Nathan, Morgan, Rowan and Fallon; sister, Anna Paluda of Northampton; brother, John of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Hermina, Stephen, Frank, Louis, Joseph and Mary.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 24th at 12:00 noon in Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may gather on Friday morning from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. in the church. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Northampton. Online condolences may be offered below.
