Donald P. "Zube" Kovach, 85, of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Alexandria Manor, Nazareth. Donald and his wife, Judith A. (Newhard), celebrated 61 years of marriage. Born March 1, 1938, in Hokendauqua, he was a son of the late Paul M., Sr. and Mary (Lelko) Kovach. Donald honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Northampton VFW Post 4714. He took great pride in assisting with the VFW Honor Guard. Donald owned Zube's Café in Coplay for many years. He worked as a clerk at the former Conrail Railroad. Donald was a member and bartender at the St. Peter and Paul Society. He was an avid golfer and sports fan for Penn State, Green Bay Packers, and New York Yankees. Donald was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.

In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by daughter, Marybeth Kovach; son, David and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Bryton, and Gracelyn; brother, Francis; and several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his brother, Paul M., Jr.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 18th at 10:30 a.m. in the church, 22nd & Washington Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may call Tuesday from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Entombment will follow in the parish cemetery.
