Catherine H.
Mueller
Jul 29, 1922 — May 2, 2024
It is with profound sorrow that we sadly announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Catherine Theresa Hilda (Seglets) Mueller. Catherine was 101 years, 9 months, and 3 days old and passed peacefully under the compassionate care of Cedarbrook-Fountain Hill on Thursday, May 2, 2024. Catherine, a first generation American, was born at home on July 29, 1922, to the late Martin and Catherine (Rosta) Seglets who emigrated from Austria-Hungary. Catherine and her husband Paul married on September 17, 1942, and celebrated 63 years of a beautiful love story until his passing on October 10, 2005. She held many jobs in her long life working as a beautician for Rafae Beauty Salon, for the Bethlehem Steel during World War II, Laros Sewing Factory, Roller-Smith, and Bethlehem Instrument/Bitronics Corp. from which she retired. Catherine was a fastidious housekeeper, taking pride in her home and family. She was also an excellent cook and baker, making delicious ethnic recipes taught to her by her mother and grandmother. She loved vacationing at the New Jersey, Maryland, and North Carolina Shore points. She also had a fondness for Niagara Falls and Nashville, TN.
Catherine was a life-long devoted Catholic with a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, praying the rosary daily and spent hours praying, by name, for those she knew and loved. She was a former member of Holy Ghost Church in Bethlehem, the former St. Michael's Church in Northampton, and is currently a member of Queenship of Mary Church and the Women's Guild in Northampton. Catherine couldn't tell us what her secret to a long life is, but she did say that hard work, kindness to all, love of God and having faith is the standard she lived by. Our deepest gratitude to the wonderful doctor, nurses, aides, and administrative staff at Cedarbrook-Fountain Hill for the respect, dignity, and compassion shown to Mom during her stay there. Thank you again and God Bless you All.
Catherine will lovingly be remembered by her daughter, Charlotte, wife of John Kelhart of Northampton, her grandson, Richard Capra and his wife Tammy, great-grandchildren Emilie and Ty Capra, all of Northampton and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, a baby daughter, Catherine, and her brothers, Joseph and Martin Seglets. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 10th 10:30 a.m. at Queenship of Mary Church, 1324 Newport Ave. Northampton. A visitation will be held in the church beginning at 9:15 a.m. Interment will be private. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Reichel Funeral Home, Northampton. Online condolences may be submitted to www.reichelfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Catherine's memory may be made to the Queenship of Mary Church.
