Obituary

Catherine Gabryluk, 93, of Northampton, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. Gabryluk Sr., who passed on Oct. 26, 2020. They had celebrated 72 years of marriage on June 12, 2020. Born August 31, 1927 in Ormrod, PA, she was a daughter of the late Josephat and Nancy (Myzyka) Reszetar. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Northampton. Catherine worked many years as a cook for St. Nicholas club and volunteered much of her time cooking for various church functions. She was one of the original volunteer pierogi makers with the church. Catherine relished the time spent with her family especially preparing large Sunday and holiday family dinners. She enjoyed attending her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren sporting events and other activities throughout the years. She enjoyed watching all sports most notable the Yankees and the Phillies. She had a kind heart and spirit that touched everyone that she came in contact with. She was a woman of faith and prayed the rosary daily.

Survivors: sons, Ronald and wife, Ann Marie, Stephen and wife, Karen, Gregory and wife, Patrice; daughter, Kathleen Davis, wife of Kim; daughters-in-law, Sandra Gabryluk and Jamie Gabryluk; Grandchildren, Joseph Gabryluk III, Nicole Heffelfinger, Amanda Gabryluk, Tara Martino, Leah Gabryluk, Melissa Davis, Kyle Davis, Julie Giordano, Ashley Davis-Schneck, Lauren Gabryluk, Melissa Santos; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; sisters, Pauline Newhart, Irene Schall, and Nancy Haseltine. Catherine was predeceased by sons, Joseph Jr. in 2001 and Michael in 2016; brothers, John, and Stephen Reszetar; and sisters, Mary Bauer and Olga Tarafas.

Services: A Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday, July 3 rd at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1343 Newport Ave., Northampton. Services will be live streamed via the church website. Family and friends may call Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21 st St., Northampton. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be offered below.
