On March 7, surrounded by husband David and her family, the angels came for Bette (Henits) Sorrentino.  Born in Northampton on November 28, 1935, to Stephen and Elizabeth (Geosits) Henits, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and five sisters leaving her the matriarch of her generation to those of us she left behind.

In her youth she loved roaming the woods near home and stealing tomatoes as she went about the adventure of the day.  At Northampton High School she excelled at sports, especially swimming and she loved skating.  In later years she also enjoyed water skiing and was first to go slalom.  Her adventurous spirit took her throughout the country; she loved the natural beauty of Hawaii and the fun of Disney, but nothing pleased her more than a casino.  She was a devout member of her church all of her life.

Our beloved will be missed by her husband of 69 years, sons David J. and Scott, grandchildren Rhiannon Sorrentino and partner Derek Ortiz, Rachel and Dominick Nolan, Joseph and Olivia Sorrentino and many nieces and nephews.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 12th at 10:00 a.m. in Queenship of Mary Catholic Church, 1324 Newport Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may call on Tuesday evening, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning, from 8:15 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton.
