Obituary

Bernard S. Marhefka, 95 of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025. Born on November 23, 1929 in Northampton, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Piervallo) Marhefka. Bernard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen (Szoke). He was employed as a foreman for the former Whitehall Cement for 36 years. Bernard was a dedicated member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church, Northampton. He honorably served our country in the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War.

Bernard is survived by his sons, Gerard and wife Simonee, Chris, Joseph and wife Kelly. He was a loving grandfather to; Adam and wife Milisha, Eric and wife Kayla, Makenna and husband Marc, Lauren, Alina, Owen and fiancé Amelia, Celia, Emma and great grandson, Gavin. Siblings; brother, John; sisters, Monica, Frances, Bernice & many nieces and nephews. Brother, Al and sister, Martha preceded Bernard in death.

Services: Family and friends may call on Wednesday, September 3rd 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. in Assumption BVM Church, 22nd St. and Washington Ave., Northampton. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in the church. Interment will be at the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be offered below.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church in loving memory of Bernard.
