Obituary

Antonio "Tony" Macchia, 88, of Northampton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 17, 2024. Born on September 21, 1936, in Capo Vaticano, Calabria, Italy, he was a son of the late Gregorio and Anna (Garcea) Macchia. At the age of 22 with his family, he moved to America in 1958. He worked in the fashion industry at Cross Country, Northampton, and at his late brother, Basilio's factory B.A.F.F. Industries. He was co-owner of Miller Manor Hotel with his late wife for 29 years and sole proprietor of Seemsville Hotel for 15 years before retiring in 2005. He enjoyed going to the races: Indy, Daytona, Nazareth, and Pocono. He was excited to watch his grandson, Gunnar, race at Mahoning Valley Speedway. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family. Bingo and bowling were also his hobbies. He enjoyed gardening the most; he grew the hottest peppers and biggest tomatoes. He also enjoyed going out to breakfast. Many nights after closing the bar you'd find him at the diner. Retirement years, he enjoyed weekend morning breakfast at the diner, especially with his grandson, Anthony. He liked watching game shows, football (the 49ers), races, cooking, outside for walks or sitting on the front porch, going to the casino and gardening. He loved watching his grandchildren grow and have families of their own.

Survivors: daughters, Anna Marie Macchia of Coplay, Antonetta and husband, Jeffrey Santee, of East Allen Township, Rita Sayegh of Allen Township and Tina Marie Thomas of Northampton with whom he lived; six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, Anthony Sayegh, Kayla Sayegh, Nina & husband, Ryan, and their sons, Landon, Xander and Ziyke, Nicole and husband, Michael, and their children, Madison, Domenic and Sophia, Kimberly and husband, Joey, and their daughter, Merideth, Gunnar and wife, Bryanna, and their sons, Maximus and Nicholas; sister, Domenica Polimeni of Cedar Grove, NJ; brother, Joseph and wife, Catherine Macchia, of Easton; best friend, Richard Yost of Northampton; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife, and parents, he was predeceased by brother, Basilio, and brother-in-law and best friend, Gregorio Polimeni.

He will be dearly missed and would want everyone to "watch the ice."
