Obituary

Anna E. Kantner of Northampton passed away peacefully on March 2. She and her husband Joseph celebrated 60 years of marriage on April 23rd, 2020. She was born in Allentown and was the daughter of Ernest and Anna Godiska. Anna graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1958 and was chosen to teach at Sacred Heart School in Allentown by Msgr. Leo Gregory Fink. She was most honored by this opportunity. Anna taught third grade from 1958-1960. In 1960 she married and then raised her three children. From 1978-2000 Anna was employed at Western Electric and retired from Lucent Technologies. She went to work with the intention of helping her children to further their education. The foundation she received at ACCHS and the friendships she made were most valuable to her. She attended every reunion and looked forward to meeting her classmates. Her Catholic faith was the focus of her life and always served as her moral compass.   Anna loved her family and bestowed upon them the gift of her Catholic faith. She collected for Catholic Charities and later volunteered at St. Lawrence the Martyr Church in Catasauqua where she also sang in the choir. From the year 2000 on, she was a member of the Renew Group at St. Lawrence Church. Her Slovak heritage was most important to her. In the year 2000, she made the trip of her lifetime to Slovakia and was able to meet relatives of her mom and dad. Anna's empathy, prayers and help were extended to all. She loved to bake and garden.

Anna leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Joseph, her son Joseph (Kristin), son Robert, daughter Ellen Pharo (Don), grandsons James, Matt and Andrew and granddaughter Laura, her brother John, sister Rosemary Oswald (Frank) and many nieces and nephews.
