Albert F. Krautsack, 85, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. Albert and his wife, Geraldine M. (Failer), celebrated 64 years of marriage. They were Whitehall High School sweethearts. During high school, Albert was active with the student council, a letterman football fullback, and participated on the track team. Born January 17, 1938, in Coplay, he was a son of the late William R. and Arlene (Schaffer) Krautsack. Albert honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the U.S.S. Harlan R. Dickson Destroyer (DD 708), Newport, Rhode Island, as an active-duty YN third class – post office administrator on the ship. He worked as a tractor trailer driver at Lehigh Vally Dairy for 46 years and was a member of the Teamsters Local 463 Dairy Union. After retiring, he was a CDL tractor trailer driver instructor at Northampton Community College. Albert was an extremely hard worker, who never took the easy way out. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and provider. He will be remembered for his jokes, storytelling, and laughter. Albert was an Eagle Scout and earned the Order of the Arrow.
In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by his sons, Mark and wife, Patty Pertrilla, and Alan and wife, Cassandra; daughter, Dulci Krautsack; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Krautsack; and beloved dog, Maddie. Albert was predeceased by his brothers, Billy and Larry.
Services: A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, January 10th at 12:00 p.m. noon in St. Johns Union Cemetery, Whitehall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be presented to the Tunnels to Tower Foundation in loving memory of Albert. Online condolences may be offered below.
